Banana Pudding
Banana custard, house-made pudding, soft vanilla wafers. And a book for a kid with every pint.
Now through September
Banana pudding is Dolly Parton's favorite dessert. That was reason enough for us to make it as ice cream, and reason enough to give the recipe a little refresh while we were at it.
The base is a creamy banana custard ice cream. Through it run layers of vanilla pudding we make in-house, and plenty of soft vanilla wafers, baked here, folded in whole. It tastes like the bottom of the bowl — the part where the wafers have gone soft and everything has melted into everything else.
But this pint is about more than ice cream. Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995, inspired by her father, who never learned to read or write. Today the program mails free books to young children around the world, so a love of reading can start before school does. For every Banana Pudding pint we sell, Sweet Republic donates one book to a child through the Imagination Library. One pint. One book. A little something sweet that does some good.
